The Agility Club of Indianapolis (ACI) is an American Kennel Club (AKC) chartered club, approved to offer AKC licensed agility trials and other AKC performance events. Founded in 2004, the club is made up of agility enthusiasts from the Central Indiana area.
The club’s purpose is:
- promote the sport of agility,
- offer training and educational opportunities,
- offer AKC-licensed agility trials,
- offer support for each other while at any level enjoying the game of agility.
Before ACI, Central Indiana had very few agility trials and competitors had to travel to Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois or Michigan, whose agility legacy is a lot longer than ACI’s. ACI is filling this void by providing trialing, training, support and social opportunities close to home. The members range from experienced competitors with multiple MACH (Master Agility Champion) dogs, to beginners who are training their first agility dog. Currently ACI offers three AKC – licensed agility trials each year. (Please visit the Agility Club of Indianapolis Facebook page for more information on the shows.)
Club meetings are usually held three times a year with the meetings convening immediately after the trials and are generally held at Pawsitive Partners Dog Training Center.
The club also brings in nationally recognized trainers to facilitate various agility seminars.
The Agility Club of Indianapolis is growing and is constantly exploring topics for seminars and training such as canine first aid, agility with older dogs, conditioning and even advanced handling, etc.
